At the start of last year I started to put some debt onto my mothers credit card. She has since cleared all the debt of hers off of it by transferring it elsewhere, and had my name put on the card along with hers since the debt is all mine. In total it's around £7,000. Where do I start with regards to that debt? It's all been put on by myself, but the card originated in her name. With that debt I have around £22k debt, and if I move out will need to get an IVA. There's noway I can afford to repay that debt if it doesn't count towards the IVA, but don't know where it would stand with regards to the IVA since, although it's my expenditure, it's originally a card in her name.

Could you clarify for me please?

Assuming that your mother is still jointly liable for that debt, you will need to include it in your proposed IVA but the creditor is then bound to pursue your mother for the full balance under the terms of joint and several liability. This is definately worth checking up on first, as it is very unusual to have joint credit card debts.

It rather sounds to me as if this card is still in your mother's name, and if so the debt is therefore technically hers, although she could claim against you personally as a creditor in her own right in the IVA.
