Hi. Just after advice on what the chances are of myself and my partner obtaining a mortgage through a high street bank? My IVA completed in June 2013, and my partner was not part of this and has no bad credit on his file. He is keen to approach his bank (Virgin) about us getting a joint mortgage, so would it be best if we applied in his name with my salary also taken into account? We both work full-time but both of our salaries would be needed to get the mortgage we want. I just don't know what the best thing to do is, or whether we should try an independent broker. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is no harm in him speaking to his bank and being totally upfront especially if the IVA is still showing on your credit file. If the IVA has gone and therefore commenced pre 2009/10 then you could probably go to most lenders although a few are still a bit discriminatory.
Good idea to speak to one of the mortgage experts but certainly no harm in him speaking to his own bank first.
