it depends Niobe, if a refund was given but no goods after that then there should be nothing to pay after all the item has been returned if goods have been exchanged and a refund given then technically 54 is owed. but you can not refund with out the original card

Failing all of that, request the item back, with receipts, with nothing to pay to anybody and go to the manufacturer direct. I know its a pain, but it your in an, IVA 54 quid matters

recovering can you explain this to me please, when you returned the item, they refunded yes to your old card? did they then give you a new mixer? if they did technically you owe them if they didnt give you a new one then you owe a big fat zero

from what i understand they are not supposed to keep your details but you do have a get out card here, obviously john lewis have your card details so ask them to provide you with them if they tell you they can not due to data protection throw this back at them and tell them that works both ways they should not have kept your card details for one purchase, you can then contact rbs armed with the card number go into a branch and they can find your details in there

forgot to add you also have had a replacement so technically you do owe them the money just tell them you are trying to sort this out with the bank but unless they provide you with the details you have no way of helping them recover the money, just another thought your ip should have account details held for all your debts so maybe another route there

oh and also ask john lewis how they managed to refund on a card that is no longer active, just tell the bank that this should not have been refunded to them and see what they say, pass it back to john lewis to sort out tell them the card was not active when they refunded and you had made them aware of this, ask them why they did not do a straight exchange which is part of their policy, and why they are not chasing rbs for the money as it was their mistake not yours, kick up a stink and do not settle for a customer service partner ask for the manager of the department if no satisfaction go to the branch manager, sorry if it seems as if i am getting on my high horsr but i work in retail and it bugs me when retailers do not follow their own policies

I agree - see what happens when you complain to them.

If it's within guarantee then I would think they have to replace it anyway.
