Specials don't have to give up their holidays, neither can they be deployed to a war zone.

I do think they should get some sort of remuneration though.

One things for sure...I have to brush up my interview technique!! I had an interview yesterday...and I was rubbish!!! Or rather I thought the interviewer was rubbish and I think it showed in my attitude [:I]

Oh well chalk it up to experience...at least I've had an interview.

I'm starting helping my friend in her shop...I'll be sorting out her paperwork/bills etc. I'm waiting to hear about volunteering in my area too. I'm just so bored now.

Sorry to hear that Julie - I know I am rubbish at being interviewed, I just go to pieces!

I'm now at the stage where I would not be bored at home at all. I have the forum, hubby, and the dogs. I'd be chuffed to death to be able to retire now.

Jan - I wasn't nervous at all, just thought some of the questions were silly. At the end when they ask "is there anything you want to ask us"..well I ended up interviewing them for longer than they interviewed me! Not a good impression to make [:I]

I love taking Dobby out for walks but I need to work..I was off ill for a few weeks too so I'm ready to do something now.Just hope someone out there is ready for me [:D]

I can just imagine you doing that Julie![:D]

You're a lot younger than me, so can accept that you need to get out and work. I've been at work for almost 40 years now and just want to be able to relax and please myself what I do.

I'm with you on this one Jan - I'd give up work tomorrow if I could as the thought of working until I'm 67 is an awful thought!

No way could I do that!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now - in three years and nine months time I can retire, unless I can persuade them to let me go beforehand. Can't come quick enough.

The question I hate most at interviews is 'where do you see yourself in 5 years?' It's hard to answer as my usual thought is 'at another company' as 5 years is long enough anywhere! Saying that I've been in the same job for 8 now.

Good luck with your applications, I'm sure you'll find something soon xxx

for a small community on this forum i find it disturbing to here that we all seem to have similar issues regarding employment, interviews, etc,i hear these issues on the tely but never have apreciated how wide the problem is across the country.in the past ive been fortunate to be with the same employee since i left school, but am now realising how hard it is for people to find sustainable employment, good luck julie you are a asset to any company.

I hate that sort of thing. Although my job appears to be pretty safe at the moment (and long may the revival of the car market last!) I am looking for a job, but most of them seem to want qualifications and don't care about experience.

I found one job that I could do easily, but because I didn't have an 'A' Level I couldn't apply. I'm 35 years old and have 16 years relevant experience so why on earth do I need an 'A' Level?!?!

I always thought my job was safe but sadly due to the cut in Adult Funding we're struggling and one learning centre has been closed in a village location!

Sorry to hear that Lesley, I hope your job is safe.

I've gone from thinking I was going to lose my job a year ago to having more work than I can cope with - I think the only way they could get rid of any of us now would be to close the entire office.

You never know do you skippy, with the learning Centre closing only one redundancy other given jobs in the main campus which is 34 miles away but I guess at least it's a job although not ideal.
