I answered the letters, but ignored the calls both on my home phone and the mobile.

The one and only call where I spoke to them was on the day my IVA was approved.

Not heard anything since.

Mine never got passed to Mercers, it was dealt with by Barclaycard and then sold to a DCA whose name escapes me, and I then got a letter from Eversheds.

Mine was eventually sold to Max Recovery/Eversheds. They wrote and told me that as long as the IVA ran ok, I wouldn't hear from them again, and I haven't.

Well,Barclays just phoned again, the lady last night didn't update the system. She was very apologetic and very nice about the whole conversation. Account should now be on hold!

I just enforced hubby to speak to his first creditor, he has been dodging Barclaycard for about 2 weeks now.....his excuse is that he has a Glaswegian accent and call centre people don't understand what he is saying.....the fella was South African so the conversation was interesting, but done and dusted and they have put that account on hold for 2 weeks.

Both Barclaycard people have asked for a reference number ....any ideas what this could be?

It may well be a reference number given to you by your respective IP.

Don't hold you breath about them putting your account on hold for two weeks - it may not happen.

Cath - we don't work on reference numbers, we work on the basis of real people and treat them accordingly. Reference numbers are for larger firms who cannot personally keep track of their clients on an individual basis, and are not used in my organisation. They already have a reference number for you - it is your account number!

Creditors do find that hard to believe Melanie that you don't have a reference number, I think I posted the other day that was my main thing when they rang trying to convince them I'm a name not a number within my chosen IP's firm. I'm sure they weren't convinced. Just keep repeating yourself Cath they'll get the message in the end I'm sure. x

Lesley agreed. Only had two creditors on the phone so far but N Rock couldn't take it in that I didn't have a "Ref No". Sorted easily as I got in touch with Marc and he gave me a ref no......probably just something he grabbed out of thin air but hey it done the job lol.

Melanie agree with you entirely, whats wrong with using a name, after all we have account numbers for everything and I told N Rock that if they contacted you then they could simply quote my name and I felt confident that your Company would be able to find me on your system and confirm that you were acting on behalf:-)
I came into this world with nothing and still have most of it left!

Marc would have given you the number which our accounting system uses for ourselves internally! It will mean absolutely nothing to a creditor - and this whole thing about reference numbers is a nonsense.
