Hello, wondering if someone could help me here. I'm typing this on behalf of my mum and dad. My brother and his girlfriend are living with them and have had bad debt over the past couple of years, and have just taken out an IVA. Would this IVA go against the property or just my brother and his girlfriend? Why I'm asking is, for the first time, my dad has been refused credit for a bank loan and he cannot think of anything else that will prevent him from getting it, so we was wondering if the IVA is stopping my parents getting credit because my brother has the same surname as them maybe?
Can anyone help with this?

Hi jamiesmum and welcome to the forum

The IVA will be resistered against your brother and his girlfrind at your parents address. This may cause some association with your parents credit records, but they can remove this by filing a notice of disassociation.

Get your parents to obtain a copy of their credit record to be sure.
