FURIOUS campaigners hit out last night after MSPs passed bankruptcy laws which could see people lose their homes over debts of just Pounds 3,000.
Ministers say sales of homes will be rare under the Bankruptcy Bill, with a raft of protections in place for debtors.
But James Jopling, of Shelter Scotland, blasted: "This will not protect people from the threat of being made homeless, or from homelessness itself.
"It is a missed opportunity to use public policy to avoid people becoming homeless.
"And it goes against the grain of Scotland's internationally recognised homelessness legislation."
