I know where you are coming from lily, my 4 year old is being assessed for autism and my oldest has adhd and tourettes syndrome. They both can say things that are not apropriate to anything especially the 4 year old.

I can understand what you are saying Lily. I just feel that this forum isn't the place for someone to tell others how to 'get away' with their debts. It also touched a nerve with me as I don't want anyone to think that going BR is easy.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

No skip, I know how hard this has been for you, and I agree with you, its not easy. No one here has had it easy. Some just understand better than others. You tried your best to pay your creditors back and it was unrealistic, you had no choice but BR.

If my son tells me I smell, its because I am wearing different perfume not that I am dirty, but I could take offence.

Autism diagnostic observation skedule. Its a screening test for autism. They look for a triad of impairment typical in all autistic spectrum disorders. The triad consists of difficulty in relationships, language/communication, ridigity (dislike of change, lining things up, obsessions etc).

Hope this helps, its a difficult time for you.

Thanks for that lily, he has all of the above. Hes also been statemented for special needs at school so now they pay for 25 hours extra help per week for him . he has a 1 to 1 teacher.
The docs are all pretty adamant he has an ASD. The screening is to be done on friday but still dont know when there will be any kind of diagnosis.

I remember how frustrating that was for me, mine are older now. I remember my world was on hold until the next appointment, maybe that would be 'the answer'. I learned all I could about the condition and it really helped me, its an enigma. My oldest was in mainstream with support the other two went into special schools the youngest not really developing language. They all had food alleries and drank like fish, every autistic I know drinks a lot. My middle one just didnt gain weight and needed a tube, he just passed his driving test a couple of weeks ago. There is a lot of hope for these kids but you have to smash down a few walls to get what they need. I know how important that diagnosis is for you, I hope you get what you want this time. Its a long road but so worth it, I will be thinking of you on Friday.

Best wishes

Sorry to clobber your post Gavin, good luck with your IVA journey.

Thanks again lily.
My son drinks massive ammounts. He has weird and wonderful obsessions, he sniffs and licks people, as you know the list goes on.
As for food, theres few things he will eat and those have to come from certain shops and be in certain packaging. He only learns on the periphary of experience and he is very repetative. Most of what he says is phrases from tv or films.
Still, he is a wonderful, funny but sometimes infuriating character and i wouldnt change hm for the world. Thats what makes him so unique to us.

Can I ask a question about this subject? A friend of mine has a 4 year old son who has a lot of issues - he stares constantly (even if you wave your hand in front of his face he won't look away), he is quite violent (he split his mums lip by hitting her, not just flailing his arms), he swears a lot and if he doesn't get his own way he has terrible screaming tantrums, far worse than 'normal' tantrums.

Does this sound like autism? 2 of his uncles are autistic, but I don't know if it runs in families.

I hope you don't mind me asking, and good luck on Friday Skint. You are both doing a fantastic job and I really admire both of you.

Skippy it sounds like you are talking about my son. There aare a lot more issues too with him. If his mum thinks there are significant problems she may be wise to spak with somebody about him. My son has had problems since birth and has had different experts involved. Its such a long process but i think early intervention is the key.

Thanks Skint. I really hope that they can get help, but I don't know if they will ask for it as the family is (quie understandably) in denial about him having a problem. To them he's just badly behaved, but as an outsider it looks like more than that. I don't have children but most of my friends do and none of them are like this.
