I woke up in the night and the house was like a sauna - we can't turn the central heating off! Dave turned the radiator off in the bedroom yesterday, and it seems to have done something to the rest of the system. He's been talking about taking out a service contract with British Gas since we moved, but hadn't done it so we're going to have to pay for whatever needs doing - great! The worst part is I keep thinking of how much we're going to be paying Numpty Power!

If all else fails Skip, get your swimming suit and sunglasses on and mix up a cocktail and pretend you are on holiday[:D]

Yeah - get one of those CD's that only play the soothing sound of the sea, put the headphones on, close your eyes and you are almost there!

We rang British Gas when our boiler went on the blink fully intending on taking out the insurance cover thingie they do. I asked how much it was each month as they quote you cheaper THEN I dropped the bomb shell that it was already goosed the boiler. They couldn't up the money payments then to a ridiculous amount as they had already quoted. It turned out because we already had a problem they would charge us £2 more a month for the first 12 months and then it would drop back down to the original quote. It didn't pan out in the end as when they came to do the initial check they condemned the boiler!!! They plonked a big yellow warning triangle on it. It was the end of Jan and freezing.

Well it seems to be working at the moment, so fingers crossed it'll hang on a couple of weeks - British Gas are coming out to service the boiler next Thursday (Dave has finally signed up) and if they find anything wrong we'll play dumb. If they don't find anything wrong and it goes again we can then call them out.

I have a horrible feeling none of the gas appliances were fitted by a Corgi registered fitter - we had a small gas leak, and the gas tap had been fitted the wrong way round so you couldn't actually turn it off! It'll be interesting to see what the engineer finds!
