One year in

hi there im new here so plase be nice [:)]

well me and my hubby are just into the first year of our IVA and things have gone quite ok
the biggest stress has been my student finance, urgh bunch morons there who cant seem to read info you provide

should say im married with 3 girls ages 13, 11 and 8
im also a full time university student studying psychology, just coming to the end of year 2 however im going to have to go plead my case to resit the whole year as this past 6 months or so has been crap with my health.
If they turn round and say i can then i will have to leave the course, though right now my hearts not in it as im still not 100% well
this is creating stress as i have no idea what my IVA provider will say if i turn round and say ive left uni so don't have those fund anymore and also the loss of that student income wouldn't be great. will see first what my dr says next week when i go for a blood test and check up.
the lowest stress for us though is our IVA hehehe were are however wondering whats going to happen in a few weeks, my hubbys work union have been fighting the council he works for for back pay over weekends, bank hols and late working. The union won recently so every one is getting back pay for the over time etc form the past years they have worked, as this is back pay and not a bonus or windfall we just wondering how our IVA provider will treat it were hoping that its 50/50
we shall call them though as soon as we have received the money.

It sure is, it was a godsend for me, I would think (although I am not an IP) that your backpay should be treated on the 50/50 rule but check with your IP just to make sure, who are you with?

i'll be so happy if it is the 50/50 as i can then do some bit on my garden, want to get it in state to be able tostart growing our own veg may need something to occupy me if i end up leaving uni

Hope you get to resit your 2nd year if that's what you want. My daughter is going to be starting a degree (Psychology) in September hopefully (grades dependant). x

One price of advice is that if it's the same as my course it's statistics based they emphasis on that a lot!!!
Which I wasn't expecting and found that aspect very hard :-s
Also keep up to date eith reading after lectures don't leave it till coming up to exams

I hope your health picks up soon! It's grotty feeling unwell. One poster had a similar backpay situation and it was dealt with as additional income so benefitted from keeping some; but some IPs may deal with it as a windfall. Good luck x

Yeah grotty health just doesn't seem to go away urgh but fingers crossed it will soon

We are just awaiting the money, not sure how long that will take to be paid ?!?!?
As soon as we've received it it will go in the bank and well call GT to see what they say >.< that's going to be the stress and worry but hoping preying we get to keep half

tomorrow is decision day! we finally inform GT of the back pay :-s
also an important trip to the drs for a drs note as i have missed every single exam this past 5 weeks due to ill health :-s so have to fill in mitigating circumstance form :-s
were now looking towards me having CFS which isn't not a good way to go as there is no cure, or meds! just coping strategies

Good luck for tomorrow Isis! I hope you get the outcome you want!! Such a shame about your exams but hopefully they can accommodate resist for you. I'm probably being really stupid but I don't think I've heard of CFS before... x

Hi Isis - I just had a look on the NHS website. CFS doesn't sound a lot of fun but I'm sure with the right coping strategies you will go on to achieve the things you've always wanted and live a normal life. As there aren't conventional medications, you may find help in nutrition and complimentary therapies. You may even be able to include some costs in your IVA expenditure. x

Hi Isis -- there are a few of us on here with CFS / ME so you are not alone there. I have been diagnosed with it for a few years now. The coping strategies work reasonably well .... but every now and then I forget ( or chose to forget) ... sometimes something is worth a few days laid up afterwards !!!!
