It's been one week since my Iva was approved, and already made my 1st payment , so only 59 to go. I hope the next 59 payments go quickly. Am viewing the 5 years as if the payments are loans. But it's good to know it's my hard earned money am spending and not the banks credit limit...
I imagine it will be very hard but am determined to make it work

I'm sure you will and I look forward to seeing your ticker changing each month!

WELL DONE - it will go quick I promise - before you know it you will be at annual review stage. Budgeting becomes a way if life and I am now six months out of my IVA and I still stick to my monthly allowances, and although we can now afford a treat or two each month we don't. We have created a list of items that need replacing and have prioritised them - right down to the kettle and toaster ! We could easily go out now and afford them, but I am determined to save each month to allow for the unexpected !
Stay posting on the forum and we will support you all the way !

I agree time flies within an IVA, each month is a month closer to debt freedom is the way I look at it and some months are tougher than others but all will be worth it in the end. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi

We too treat our IVA payments as a loan payment. I am really surprised at how much money we save with just a little thought and also quite scary on how much money we wasted in the past.
Good luck to you and hope you have a pain free journey.

From our experience the time flies, we are at month 61/72 and the only time that things have dragged are usually when something unexpected happens. Good luck for the duration and I hope that life is smooth for you!
It's been a long road getting from there to here but it's been worth it!

Just remember your not paying interest while millions of people still are.
Don't count the months. Forget about it. It goes quicker than u think like most things in life. Don't let it be a big part of your life tho!

I like counting down the months - each one is one step closer and I love watching my little ticker change.

Yeah i love watching our ticker go down too. It fills me with pride and excitement too knowing we're that one step closer to debt freedom. The only downside i tend to wish my life away, wishing to the weekend as no work :) and then to paydays so another payment will be off:) And in reality time is slipping by us all soooo fast . Good luck on your journey x

That's fantastic, I hope I'm feeling that way in a couple of weeks time!

I think of it in terms of a loan too, although obviously I'm not accepted yet so don't want to jump the gun.....

Snap - I've had loan repayments for so long now, it's just like a reduced amount for me. But it's amazing how time flies, I only got accepted a few weeks ago, and I will have made 2 payments as of tomorrow. Pooh Bear has even moved a millimetre or two across [:)]
Final payment 1st April 2016.
Completion Certificate received 19th May 2016.

Yay well done No Money for walking away from buying! I have to admit I changed a lot of habits a while ago thinking I could get the debt paid off my way, sadly not, but I've learnt some great habits in the last year, I don't buy anything randomly anymore I question every single purchase even certain food!!
