I am due to go to Afghanistan for 6 months, will the Operation allowance be taken into consideration upon my return, 50% handed over to the creditors?

Many thanks for the help

It will be taken account of as additional income, but do make sure that you fully provide for any additional household costs you may incur as a result of the deployment - for instance additioanl childcare, or travelling expenses for the family you may be leaving behind.

Keep safe out there, and have a good tour.

During Op Telic(Gulf war II) we ended up very out of pocket, and you know the most disgusting thing about it,

The spouse left at home is not entitled to a reduction in council tax(single occupancy),however

The spouse of an armed robber who is serving time in one of HM hotels errr I mean prisons is entitled to the reduction.

What a fair and just system we have!!

Not sure if this is still the case as it was several years ago,and I know some of the forces allowances have improved.

That is a disgrace Plasticdaft. The way our forces personnel are treated never ceases to amaze me. We used to exercise with the Americans a lot. The welfare system, equipment and home comforts even in the field bore no comparison - and they were paid almost twice as much as our guys.

Hasn't that always been the way with the Americans? They used to say during WWII - 'overpaid, oversexed and over here'. I don't deny that they do an excellent job but it's about time our troops had the same sort of treatment in a theatre of war.

They also used to say, "If a British plane flew over head the Germans ran for cover. If a German plane flew overhead, the British ran for cover. But when an American plane flew overhead, everybody ran for cover!" [:D]
