Hi
Has anyone asked to have an account with an overdraft frozen so they can pay the overdraft of monthly? Is it worth going to ask to speak to someone in the bank or wait until it gets handed over to a collection agency who might be more willing to negotiate?

Thanks

We were with HSBC and had an overdraft, which was heavily overdrawn! We just switched accounts, cancelled all direct debits and didn't pay anything into it. They didn't hand it over to another company for a long while, just tried to get us to take out a 'managed loan' which we refused.

It all went into our IVA eventually.

Forgot to say that we didn't freeze it. HSBC closed the account when the passed it over to Robinson Way.
