I am currently nearly 1 year into my joint IVA with my husband. My 1st review is due beginning of April.
I have never missed an IVA payment and they have always been on time. I have also always paid 50% of any overtime over until the last two months.
Our house has no central heating and with a 1 year old it is costing us a fortune in coal to keep the house warm. I don't think that coal was mentioned in my original i + e hence we are relying on the o/t at the moment.
I work part time since having our daughter and am garunteed 8 hours o/t per month.
My question is, when it comes to review time, will DFD still demand the 50% o/t or will they say that as we cannot afford the payments without the o/t that our IVA is not viable anymore?
Sorry for the long post. Any hekp would be appreciated.
You need to speak to your IP about this. They may well just tag any payment you needed to have made onto the end of your IVA, or spread it across your coming payments.
You should have mentioned the coal in your I&E as it is obviously essential for your heating etc., especially in this cold weather.
Give them a ring and explain things to them, I am sure they will be sympathetic.

Hi Martha. Jan is right and DFD will certainly be sympathetic given the current weather and the fact that you have such a young child. They will not fail your IVA just because it is reliant on overtime in particular as you have made all your payments to date.
Make sure you list your heating costs at the review stage and send any receipts for coal to DFD for their files. This will at least mean any pay rises will not lead to increased contributions and instead be allocated towards the necessary costs of heating your home.
