MY WIFE AND I ARE IN A JOINT IVA AND ARE 24 MONTHS INTO IT. I HAVE BEEN DOING OVERTIME TO SUPPORT A GAMBLING ADDICTION AND NOT DECLARED THIS TO THE IP. MY WIFE HAS JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS AND IS NOW WORRIED ABOUT LOSING THE HOUSE AS THIS IS NOT HER FAULT.HOW WILL THIS AFFECT THE IVA.

Hi there and welcome to the forum

The most immediate issue to deal with is that of your gambling - so can I suggest that you try and stop of your own accord or seek professional help.

Once this is dealt with, you should then address the effect this may have on your IVA - ie are you required to pay over a percentage of your additional earnings? If so, you may be in default of the arrangement, but this should have been picked up by your IP in their last annual review. See advice from them directly as to what you now need to do, but take comfort that this is unlikely to result in you losing your home.

How much do you feel that you may owe under the 50% ruling Trev?

You must discuss this with your IP as a matter of extreme priority Trev, and try to see what can be done to put things right. But kicking the gambling habit has to be number one priority, and I wish you the very luck with this.

Best of luck with this Trev and I do hope it works out okay. As Melanie mentioned, seeking help on the addition is so important and I hope everything works out okay with your IVA.

Thanks

I HAVE THIS MORNING PHONED THE IVA SUPERVISOR,THEY ARE GOING TO LET ME START THIS YEAR WITH A CLEAN SLATE. I WILL NEED TO SEND THEM MY I+E FOR THEM TO REVIEW AND THEY HAVE REASSURED ME THAT EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK. I WENT TO MY FIRST G.A. MEETING LAST NIGHT AND WHEN I LEFT I FELT 1000 TIMES BETTER, WORK IS GOING TO REARRANGE MY SHIFTS SO THAT I CAN ATTEND THE MEETINGS ONCE A WEEK. I KNOW THIS IS GOING TO TAKE TIME AND REALISE THAT I ONLY HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN.I AM NOW GOING TO START TO REPAIR EVERYTHING I HAVE DESTROYED.
