Hello weve recieved our iva pack that we need to sign a form and send payslips, creditors letters etc etc but we cant find some of the paperwork - do we just send in what we have so far then send in the rest when we have got it?

Also do we send in originals or photocopies?

Hi Spanna, do you mean you have some letters to be sent to creditors but not all ?

When I send out an IVA I sign the letters to creditors and you sign the proposal and notice to intended nominee. Speak to the firm you have instructed and ask them if anything is missing.

Let me know exactly what is there and I may be able to help.

Yes I am with Melanie and didnt want to bother her with a silly question, i have my letter to sign for melanie to act on my behalf, and a list of things the company needs me send in, i have to send it by post as my scanner wont work and still wont work after 1.5 hours on the phone to tech support. we have the wage slips and most of the creditor letters were just missing a few letters and awaiting for them to come through in the post as weve used them recently. i was just wandering if i could send photocopies or do they have to be originals? as i would like the originals for our own records. And also do i send what we have at the moment or wait to have everything and then send in one go?

Hi Spanna. Knowing Mel, no question is too trivial for her to respond to :-) I would imagine it's best to send what you have now, so a start can be made, and the rest as soon as possible. Only Mel, or one of her team can confirm, but I would have thought copies would suffice ( after all they are no different, in the end, from printed out scans ! ).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I have found with other IVA companies that if you send originals that they do indeed send them back,

No doubt ibefore the sun rises again Mel will reply to this post.
7 years after starting an IVA I finally received a completion certificate from ClearDebt

I have all the originals of mine in a file and just sent copies, so you should be ok to keep your originals.

If your sending by post and the things your waiting for aren't going to long arriving I'd wait and send it all together otherwise send what you have now and the rest when you get it.

Thankyou all for your advice - i just get in a flap and dont want to bother the professionals if other iva members could advise if being in a similar situation - if that makes sense? I know Mel wouldnt mind answering im just trying to get it altogether now and didnt know when she would likely to be next on - Many thanks for all your responses.

Spanna - please do send us all of the information you have to date - and don't worry about that which is outstanding, as it can come as soon as you have it to hand. Nothing is ever a bother to us, and when we are engaged by clients we do prefer them to come to us directly to ensure that they get the best advice to suit their own individual situation.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner
