Yes they do. They do deliver the passport to the door though.

You don't have to do it for renewals, it's just for new applications.

I don't mind carrying an ID card as long as I don't have to pay for it!

Then I would refuse. If they want me to have one, fine, but it should be free.

I wouldn't mind having one but like others don't want to be charged for it
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

The passport thing is as bad as the card style driving licence that was forced onto us all. No one said at the time they were only valid for 10 years and it would cost for a renewal,my old paper one covered me until 2043(age 70),but because of the new one I shall need 4 renewals by then!!!

Rip off britain!!
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

I wouldn't mind but I had my last passport for 10 years and didn't leave the UK. Still i thought I would re apply this year.

I wear glasses, all the time, and no one would recognise me without them. My passport photo got rejected because I was wearing them.
My photo now looks nothing like me.

As for ID cards I am firmly against them (or rather the enormous database behind them). Its another thin end of another very big wedge.

That's stupid JB! Surely if you wear glasses all the time you should have them on in the picture!

Thanks for reminding me PD - my licence has to be renewed in November. The really annoying thing is I moved 18 months ago - why couldn't I have renewed it then when they were changing the address?

OOO I didnt know that, my licence was valid until I am 70 I thought. I had to find mine out today to get the van, so instead of just sending it off for the change of address I may as well get a new one. Well depending on the cost of course.

If you've got a paper licence you'll have to upgrade it to a picture one when you change your address Lily as they don't issue paper licences any more.

I'm not sure if you'll need to pay or not Lily. Have a look at this as it tells you what you need to do - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Dr ... DG_4022088

I hope you don't!

We still have the old pink licences, have no plans to move, so hopefully won't need any new ones until we hit 70!
