Where are the jobs in other industries? Every industry is making cuts and there are now over 2,000,000 out of work.

There aren't enough jobs to go round and those that have them would very much like to keep them.

I don't think now is the right time to be looking to change to a different industry do you? It's only an opportunity if there are jobs out there!

My sister works in the electronics industry, she's been made redundant today. The only companies who seem to be employing at the moment are supermarkets, a new one is about to open where my sister lives but I can image the queue for jobs will be a long one.

I imagine there will be a lot louise. The only other ones are the fast food outlets.

Sorry that your sister has lost her job, I hope she finds another one soon.

Blimey[:0]

Sorry to hear that Skippy, hopefully that will be enough for your company to keep stable and not make anymore redundancies.

I would rather take a short term pay cut than be made redundant[;)]

Hope it picks up soon x
Be positive & look after yourself, there are more important things in life than debts....

Best Wishes

Thanks Emma. That's the way I'm looking at it - better than having no job at all!

I've signed my letter of agreement and given it back - I don't know if anyone else has yet, but most people have said they would do it. I hope when it comes down to it I'm not the only mug who agrees to it!

I'm sure you won't be the only one agreeing to it Skippy - there's not a lot of choice really. Paycut or no job I suppose.

Try to keep positive, at least the company are trying to keep things afloat. Hopefully, this will be short term "normal service" will be resumed soon.

Ignore any negative comments or use them to vent your anger and frustration [:D]

Thinking of you xx

Fingers crossed that the pay cut will do enough to keep things going long term.

As for negative comments, remember that this is an opinion forum and while the main reasons for posting are to advise and support, everyone must be allowed an opinion,if you dont like what someone has posted ignore it.

Out of interest what industry do you work in noiva?

I hope so as well! I'm sure I won't be the only one who agrees, and if it keeps us in a job it's worth it. I don't think it will be short term as we need the car industry to really pick up for things to improve.

Regarding the negative comments, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and it would be boring if we all agreed, however sometimes I feel some comments can be negative for the sake of it!

And if you are feeling down anyway, that's the last thing you need.

I would think Skip, if there are to be more redundancies (hopefully not though!) that anyone who didn't agree to the paycut would be the first to go!

It would be nice but thats not going to be likely due to unfair dismissal laws. Lets just hope for no redundancies.

They said it won't count for or against us, but I'm sure co-operating will look better for us! I'd also fel guilty if I was getting my full salary and other people weren't. We're a small office (11 people) so we all know each other quite well.

I suppose it would depend on what reason they gave for the redundancies, if they happen.

If the company is struggling, you try and prove that was why you were booted out, especially with so few people working there.
