I am not sure that the company can cite absense through genuines sickness as grounds for redundancy. Wait and see what happens, but it might be worth having a chat with an employment lawyer in the meantime just in case.
Its part of a matrix thing they do take absence and other points into consideration.. I know I shouldn't worry and we'll cross the bridge when or if it happens but can't help myself!!
I had a look at the redundancy calculator when they were talking about redundancies here. I don't see how they can say you get a week for every year you've worked at a company when they only pay up to £330 per week!

just a little update..
hubbys company are trying to save money.. and something mentioned was a 5% paycut.. if this came around how would this cut with the IVA..
