We don't judge on here sonj77, there for the grace of god go I is my opinion. You just don't know what life will throw at you and whilst I don't plan another IVA, I think life is too uncertain to say NEVER...I know the debt solution works as I'm sure you do.

Worth talking to a personal company such as Melanie or McCambridge Duffy, they can discuss all options with you alongside the IVA.

Vincent Bond sponsor this site and they will hand you over to an IP in due course.

Would I not be dealing with them then? You would think I hadn't done this before

Yes you will deal direct with your IP. I'm sure Andy Davie will be along soon to reassure as he works for VB and is site spokesperson. You'll be fine in their hands honest.

Thanks Lesley. I am really wanting to speak to Andy, have tried emailing him too. I think I was hoping I would be with vb, didn't realise they would pass me on. I don't want to have to go through everything time and time again, Im finding it really hard. Typically its a bank holiday weekend as I could do with a conversation to settle me. Can I ask, do you have any credit or do you avoid it, hope not too personal

Not too personal at all. I finished my IVA in Feb 13, I received my certificate of compliance in April 13 and applied for a Vanquis credit card immediately, accepted, used and paid off in full every month right to this day. Just last month I applied for a car loan as our car was getting very tired and to my surprise was accepted. I picked up a new'ish' car on Thursday 1st May. I must admit it's a bit scary to have to pay 36 months for this car but I'm having to be realistic and budget accordingly. Life is too short to have regrets in my opinion and we're chuffed with the new car.

Hopefully Andy will pick up your email soon. Basically I don't think you'll have to go through things over and over as VB do the legwork before passing you over to an IP so they'll only want to confirm the details I guess...other posters may have started their enquiry with VB and be able to confirm this.

I know we can't settle you with definitive answers but hope by chatting we're helping you albeit slightly x

Lesley, you are helping me massively. I just feel so embarrassed by the whole thing and I cant even explain how we have ended up like this again. I suppose it was years of living with nothing, our payments were big and then feeling I could manage credit but it just kept getting bigger then I have panicked. At least this time I have realised before it got even bigger. That's my only positive.

You aren't the first and you won't be the last to re-enter an IVA of that I'm sure so please don't beat yourself up about that. As you say you've recognised you have a problem and are dealing with it sooner rather than later. I buried my head in the sand for years before I actually did anything about my debt problem.

VB will sort out all your details and pass you over to an IP. From then on you will deal with that IP, but VB will always be on hand if you need any help or advice. To be honest, though, if your firm is eventually Mel or McCD they will be so supportive anyway.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Ditto what Lesley has just said Sonjj77, things like this creep up on us and it can be embarrassing to talk about them, but you are dealing with it and sorting it out, I pity others who just carry on regardless not even acknowledging there is a problem (did that myself for a while before it all got too much) good luck to you, was fortunate enough to be sent MaCambridge Duffy's way whilst going through the IVA process and you would be in good hands there.

For what its worth

I used vincent bond and asked for Melanie's firm as my IP. I stopped paying as soon as I started down the IVA route.

My IVA was a lump sum one and went through without any real issue (they wanted lump sum within 6 months and the IP fees dropping).

It is a difficult time and a big decision so do not rush into anything. Make sure you are fully confident and aware before you proceed.
