Hi

Just wondered if anyone knows if you can take a payment break from the IVA for the length of maternity leave, say 9 months? Of course, this would be added on to the end of the five years.

Obviously i would not get full pay for that 9 months, so just wondered if it was possible.

Any replies would be helpful x

Hi flashingblade

Yes this can be possible, but your IP will need to get creditors to agree to this by calling a variation meeting and putting revised proposals in front of them for them to vote on.

Thanks Melanie, your advice is much appreciated.

Im afraid my next questions are a bit all over the place!

So, its not as simple as asking our IP if can we defer payments for 9 months.

If the creditors say no, does it affect the original IVA?

Also do you have to be pregnant to call the variation meeting? ( Its just that i dont want to get pregnant and them say no, and us to not manage for them few months.) Can we do it before, make sure its ok before we try 4 a baby?

We were hoping to try next year, if finances allow us! [:-(]

Hi flashingblade

I genuinely do not think that the creditors will turn you down, after all your request would be completely justified.

Do not put your life on hold because you are in an IVA, and do not let the IVA control your life. I would not recommend a variation for something which might occur - just carry on with your plans and then deal with the IVA when you need to. Good luck!

Thanks, its reassuring to see an IP say that.

Lets see what the future brings then!
