I am a bit worried...and panicking...and stressed.

The clutch on our car is fading away and we have been told that this will cost in excess of £200. We are struggling at the minute with money - you know what its like - and this has just added to it!!!

We are with Debt Free Direct and am 31 payments in. We have never had a payment break before, and I was wondering if any of you had any advice/experiences that you could pass onto me?

I know that we would have to contact DFD but what else would this entail? We have 3 weeks to go to our next payment, which we could really do with not paying.

Experts, would you have any advice??

Hope you can help!

Also, could someone tell me where I can find my IPs email address? I have found it once through this site but can't remember how.

Thanks

The only way to get clearance on this issue will be to contact DFD to enquire of your IP. If I were acting for you I would have no problem in allowing you to reduce your next payment by £200, which could either be made up by paying higher payments for the next few months or tagging it onto the end of the arrangement.

Thank you so much for your advice Melanie. I can feel the weight lifting ever so slightly, though I ralise that it will be upto DFD and my IP.

Do you know where I could get hold of my IPs email. I read on another thread that maybe the best way to get clearance for this would be to email or phone my IP. I just can't remember how I got his email address last time.

I have sent the email to our IP, but he has now passed this onto the variations teams and we just have to wait. We have also been told to not contact our IP via his own email address, even thought that is the one listed.

I am just worried at the minute. I am checking my emails every 5 minutes at work, keeping everything crossed and praying to whoever i can think of.

What is the point in him having, and publishing, an email address if you can't contact him on it?

I know. The only email address we have been told to use is one of those Customer Services addresses. It seems he likes to delegate. There was no support within the reply that I received from the variations team either. Just a very impersonal, short note.

I realise they are only doing a job, but if they were to be a bit more friendly things would seem a bit better.

I have also been told that we will be notified within 10 days. 10 DAYS!! It will be a nightmare having to wait that long.

ARGH!!!! I think I am going to scream. DFD have just called and asked for written quotes for the clutch. I understand this sort of - but do they realise that the longer this goes on for, the longer I am waiting for my car to go in to be repaired.
The car is driveable at the minute but only just, and I need the car for work. (I ahave to be insured for work as I work for the IT Team and may be called out at the last minute). Its so frustrating.
I could understand if we had defaulted a few times or asked for this bfore, but we haven't. In 31 months this is the first this has happened cos our priority has always been to pay the IVA.

It is a shame that they do not trust your word, but I am sure that if you get the quote to them as soon as possible that they will prioritise this for you.

Thanks Melanie. I have asked for a fax number so that we don't have to wait for the trusty Royal Mail. Fingers crossed in 48 hours we will know their decision.
