Just a quick one have you thought about paying bills / iva payments ect weekly ?? I do and its so much easier to budget. my sister has just started doing weekly budgeting and she finds it much easier too. just a thought x With regards to the "shame" dont be daft there are so many people out here in similar situation debt is not good but its the new black (might get shot down now) anyway its not a criminal offence its a matter of circumstance.

I won't tell anyone either.

I'm happy that I'm doing what I can to pay my creditors back, but I don't discuss my financial situation with friends outside of the forum anyway, so I certainly don't want them to know I'm in an IVA.

I think that goes for alot of people Jan. We seem at ease to discuss our finances on here, but if the subject arises when we are with friends and family, we just try and change the subject. Iam not proud of getting into debt, but i am proud that i have dealt with it and also i can see a road to end.

Funnily enough, I will discuss financial things with family and friends. I just omit to tell them about the IVA. I don't change the subject though.

Only one friend knows we are in an IVA, and I only told her as the spending on credit cards for her wedding was spiralling and I was really worried for her - I wanted to warn her that she needed to be careful or end up like us!
I wish I could tell my family, but my dad has only just been diagnosed with an aggresive form of cancer and they have enough on their plates and I don't want to burden them...but I also hate lying to them.
Oh it is so hard sometimes......Now I feel really silly as I am sat here typing with tears rolling down my face.

Yes,, I feel ashamed about going into debt, only my wife & I know,, lucky our children are grown up & better with money than us. My father in law is always talking about the dangers of debt, he never has been in debt only his 2k mortgage. Its not something we will be shouting from the roof tops.
On a lighter note though, just spoke to VW finance, changed direct debit & asked what options i have at the end of the PCP, one of the options is to refinance the balloon payment which is good news, not sure if the deal will be the same once they know we are in an IVA ( if it gets approved)

Kind Regards, MP

I feel happy and safe in my IVA I dont shout it from the roof tops. I love giving help to those who are struggling financially, just helped my sister do a DMP she only had three creditors but all have agreeded and frozen interest. Used the DMP site linked to this site. Could only have helped her because of what I've been through! some things in life are sent to test you and also for you to help others xxx

That's a great story Kabby - and well done to you for helping your sister out. Glad the DMP site was of use to you as well - a number of my former clients have also used it with much success.
