Thanks Jan - when I get the paper on Tuesday his letter will be in and I will pblish the symptoms. Dogs are the most loyal of people and I use the word "people" deliberately.Henry will not let me out of his sight - he howled when I was having a bath and I had to let him in the bathroom!!

I'd be interested in reading the paper Max - having a dog is still very new to me and I fuss over him for every little thing. I would hate it if I missed obviuos symptoms of something life threatening.

I'm sure Henry is getting loads of cuddles and attention and will be fighting fit soon xx

I posted about my dog contracting meningitis; my Vet has posted the following in his surgery. "Meningitis is being seen more frequently and it is often misdiagnosed. The symptoms first appear as if the animal is suffering from a chill - there may be a raised temperature but more often there is not. The symptoms will progress quite quickly to excrutiating pain in the back and/or neck; the animal will not be able to lie down - only stand with forelegs outstretched likewise rear. If the animal does manage to stand he or she will not be able to lie down again until he or she falls down. The heart rate will increase at a rapid rate. If such symptoms appear immediate Veterinary attention is essential. If your local Vet cannot undertake a lumber puncture then referral to a specialist Vet is necessary without delay. Treatment is by high doses of immunosuppressive drugs and further blood tests for neospora, toxoplasma and distemper testing. Most dogs will recover from all this but I must emphasize prompt treatment is vital." I hope this is useful to dog owners - Boxers and German Shepherds are, according to my Vet, prone to this disease.

Hello Julie - he is progressing well - very tired but the Vet says that is normal and not to worry - he has to be kept warm with the heating on 24 hours - so far so good!! Thank you for asking.

Give me a bit of time to find one and I'll ask J to do it - I can't do that sort of thing. I'll get it done this week Skip. Take care.

Thanks for that - although I'm more of a cat person I love dogs as well, and boxers are special to me as my aunt and uncle used to have them when I was younger.

Say hi to J for me x
