the government is to delay adding another 2p to the astronomical price
how big of them, time for gordan and the boys to pack their bags the only thing is they are all as bad as each other .

Did you know that petrol is over £5 a gallon now?
Pricing in litres has hidden this fact.

Did you know it has gone up over 50% since 1997?
Have your wages gone up this much?

Did you know that around two-thirds of the price of petrol is tax?
For every £50 you spend at the pumps, you only get £17 of petrol.

40 LTR UNL PREM £ 9.72
GOVERNMENT FUEL TAX £ 19.52
VAT £ 5.11
TOTAL £ 34.35

The government pushed up tax whilst oil prices were falling so that nobody noticed. Now oil prices have returned to previous levels, pump prices are shooting up.

And don't forget that VAT is charged fuel tax too — a tax on a tax.
Do you think high fuel taxes are inevitable because the Government has to raise taxes from somewhere? Wrong.
Why should an essential like fuel be taxed at several hundred %, when heating fuel is only taxed at 5%? Poorer motoring families are hit hardest — a rural family earning £15,000 per annum and running two modest cars pays more in fuel tax than in income tax. Thats not fair. Transport is the lifeblood of the economy, so taxing it until the pips squeak is actually harming the economy and reducing tax revenues elsewhere.

Not content with imposing extortionate tax on fuel, the treasury have the audacity to tax you on the tax!

When I started driving petrol was seven shillings and sixpence a gallon. That's 37.5 pence a gallon. I could easily afford a run out in the country then. Today I live in the country and can't afford to leave it [:(!][:(!]
When I was young I was called a rugged individualist
When I was in my fifties I was considered eccentric
Here I am doing and saying the same things I did back then and now I'm labelled senile

I can remember moaning to our local garage when petrol went up to 37p a gallon, those were the days when you could afford to go for a drive.

My car won't start and is in the garage dreading to think how much it will cost.[:(]

When I was 16, I used to work at a petrol station at weekends. People used to come in and have £1's worth of petrol! And that used to fill the tank!

When I had my first car at 17, I used to just jump in and drive for the sheer fun of it, I went all over the place on my days off. Now, I drive to work and back, shopping and that's it.

My daughter started driving two years ago, and she used to jump in her car and drive anywhere (a random drive she called it). Now she watches the petrol, and won't go anywhere she doesn't have to.

Just goes to show how things have changed.

Petrol here (South East) is around 119.9 - 123.9 - extortionate!

My first car was an H reg white Ford Fiesta and I loved it! I kept it until bits were falling off it and I cried when I had to get rid of it!

I'm using my bike more. Thankfully don't work too far away.

Went to a steam rally at the weekend and the stall making the most money was a rifle shoot with pictures of Gordon Brown as the target. No-one even bothered with the Bin Laden pics!!!
