Hi I am new to this but need guidance on a matter. I have had phonecalls from a debt company HFO which to say the least have been very bullyish and have put me under extreme duress. The man I have spoken to claims I owe a ,large amount on a debt from 4 years ago, I denied any resposibility.

He has just phoned me and said he will take it to court, and that I must write down the charges I will incur before he can do so???? I said I was not interested, owed nothing, was writing nothing and to leave me alone. I politely said good bye and put the phone down. As I speak he keeps phoning and I keep disconnecting, he has called 47 times in the last hour! What do I do. He claims to be the Account Manager of HFO with no-one above him.

Clare, I've just done a bit of research and it seems you are not the only one who has received phone calls, google HFO and have a read. But, please wait for an expert. Viki X

Clare, I know I am not an expert but your thread really upset me so I've done a bit more research and if you type HFO into the SEARCH on the home page of this forum you can have a read about them, then maybe that will help you decide what to do. You really need details of the original debt if there was one. Whatever you do, do not give your bank details over the phone to them. There is an expert called Storm who will hopefully reply to you, he seems to know a bit about them. Hope this helps, Viki X

A friend of mine had a great way of dealing with a nuisance caller (which was actually her ex who kept ringing her but staying silent on the end of the phone). A football referee's whistle blown at high pitch down the phone!

Seriously, which creditor is the firm claiming to be representing. 47 phone calls in one hour is not acceptable pactice and will have to be reported it this behaviour persists.

Disgraceful behaviour, and this made me feel quite angry. Here is a thread I found that may be of some help

I agree with inaiva .... lots of 'bad press' about HFO on that link but you have to register in order to read the posts properly. another idea is .. if you have an answer phone then screen your calls. that works for me lol

When I was in my fifties I was considered eccentric
Here I am doing and saying the same things I did back then and now I'm labelled senile
