What a grim job to have - thought mine was bad - health & safety - no-one is ever happy to see you, but these people surely can't enjoy it??

I suppose some of them must - you couldn't do it otherwise!

Hi,

I have also had a card similar from a company acting on behalf of MBNA. I actually called the company direct, to give them a piece of my mind (have been speaking with this company on a daily basis). When I called the company, I spoke with a gentleman that found it rather hilarious that I had interpruted the card to mean they were calling at my house. The card actually stated, 'I will be calling on Saturday', apparently this meant a telephone call. Selective wording to be precise, so please do not worry. I know how you are feeling as I was in a state too, it is so wrong that creditors or companies acting on their behalf can do this.

I wouldn't have found it very funny - and I don't think he should have done either!

Perhaps he gets his kicks out of worrying people to death!

I had a card like a postcard saying someone would call on a given date between 8am and 8 pm. If I telephoned the action could be stopped. I didnt phone and dreaded the day, even knowing what I know now, I was still really scared. My dog really barks and sounds really vicious so I decided she could take it if anyone called, they didnt.

I loved the knife thing too, that made me laugh out loud. They are wondering what I am up to here.

MBNA have been using the "calling" term for some time now - and I have always intepreted it as a phone call rather than a home visit. But I agree that it is a delicate play on words.

The object would appear to be to frighten you into phoning and making a payment to stop anyone calling. After all, I think 99.9% of people receiving these cards would interpret it as a physical call.

They don't normally tell you they are going to telephone - they just do it!

It works for me, the fear they put into you. Its only the fact that you cant pay that actually stops you from paying. I would have given a kidney if I could to stop the panic everytime the phone rang. (before I knew what the score was) Even then I still dreaded home visits.

They know what they are doing and their aim is to frighten the money out of you. They would slap it out of us if they could get away with it.

As the majority of you have said, it instills fear, which is wrong. I shall see what (or who) tomorrow brings!!
