I am now in the final straight of getting my life back to normal - I did a lump sum IVA in Feb 2009, so I now have less than a year to go before it finally drops off my credit report, and I can look to get back on the housing ladder after 8 years of renting. I am now keen to get my credit file cleaned up so that I am not rushing around at the end of the year, and most creditors have been fine and changed default dates to the start date of my IVA, but Polonius (who apparantly now own my ex-IVA debts) refuse to answer my letters. I have written to the address shown on my credit report, and also to an address in Guernsey which i found out what the data controllers address for them, but no reply, and I have 3 accounts under their name in total, all showing default dates AFTER the start date of my IVA. I dont want my IVA to drop off only to find I still cant get a mortgage because there are defaults still showing. Has anyone had any luck contacting these people in respect of cleaning up credit files?

If you have written to the data controller and allowed 28 days - with no response then contact ICO - you can make a formal complaint on line.

As well as the ICO you can also dispute a default notice with the credit reference agencies who will contact the creditor on your behalf
