I spoke to an adviser from a well known company last night and he was so pompus!
I could list alot of things that upset me, but the main two are.
1. My husband took out a loan for my several years ago, which I repay him monthly. I know I cant list this as a creditor but he would not let me put the repayment in my monthly expenditure. He even asked why my husband could not pay it on my behalf!
His final figure and mine was several hundred pound different. He even said I could manage my creditor and if I was struggling to cut back on food etc!
I was distraught why did he think I called in the first place. It took me alot of courage to pick up the phone.
So, was he right to leave out my monthly repayment to my husband.
I have asked him to forward his figures as I cant understand how they were so different.
Thanks
I'm sorry you've not had a good experience with the company you spoke to, there are good ones out there though.
I recommend that you speak to someone else. The companies listed on www.iva.com come recommended and the advice is free and impartial. I'm sure one of the professionals will be along later as well to advise.
I'm not sure what would happen about the loan payments you are making to your husband and whether or not you could include it.

Hi
Speak with several other companies/experts and I am sure that you will get a different response.
I could probably guess the company that you spoke to

hi nikki
my first phone call to tina from mels team could not be difrent treated me like a freind nothing was to much trouble
did i have a great weekend after that chat
dont let it get to you ring some outhers
i had a good experiance on my first call to payplan.
they did not judge and put me at ease more or less straight away.
when i got my proposal it was just as i thought it would be and its been a pleasure so far.
i was hinting at mels team as thats who i would have steered towards if i had have known about this site before i started to look into an iva.
i was hesitant before making that first call but the peace an accepted iva brings is a god send.
as andy says give a couple of firms a ring and go with your instincts

How awful for you, as you say, it took a lot of courage to pick up the phone in the first place. At least you are not signed up with this company, so his attitude has cost him in the long run.
Please have trust in other experts, there are a lot of good ones out there.
Whoever, you appoint to act on your behalf, just make sure you are comfortable with everything.
I would make a complaint to this company-your original call may have been recorded and I bet the management would be horrified to hear how this person speaks to potential clients.
They have no right to be pompous and to suggest you cut back on essentials to make your figures look right is dangerous-any iva needs to be livable.
I am with Freeman jones-whose professionalism is second to none.
The service we received throughout the initial interview to proposal being accepted was impeccable.
As has already been said-talk to a few companies until you find one you feel comfortable with-dont let this experience put you off making one of the most important decisions you will ever make.
full and final accepted January 2015
iva agreed; August 2010
iva would have completed; August 2017
extra year thank's to NRAM
Shouldn't have happened, but it might not be the "company" at fault, but the individual who answered the phone .... they might need a bit of re-training
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
There are some excellent companies out there where you will be treated with sympathy.

I'm sorry that your first call wasn't a reassuring, sympathetic and non-judgemental call it should have been but as above I would try www.iva.com for a list of companies and find one you are comfortable with.
Don't let it put you off there are many good companies out there. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
