There is the distinct possibility that I will be made redundant in the next 6 months. How do I stand with regard to my reundancy payout, do I have to give my IP half of the money and what happens if I can't find a job that pays the same salary, can I renegoitate my monthly payments? I'm afraid that my IP will take my money and leave me with nothing to live off.

Be prepared - speak to the Supervisor.

Personally I would see this needing an holistic approach. If you were made redundant (which is compensation -usually inadequate for loss of your job) whether or not the redundancy is a windfall depends upon what happens then, job-wise. If the next day you start a new job with equal or better pay then it probably is a windfall. If, however, it takes time for you to find something else or you can't match the pay then at least part of it won't be.

It will also depend upon the amount you receive- if you simply get the statutory amounts then it's far less likely to be a windfall than if you get a generous voluntary redundancy package with a significant ex-gratia element.

Hope this helps
