Just thought I'd post about the last six months (since my IVA completed).

There's nothing quite like the feeling that getting you hands on your completion certificate. I was so happy that I cried!

For the first few months we kept a very close check on the Credit agencies and their records. One did add the IVA to my credit record post closure so it took a couple of emails to get that properly sorted.

I applied and got accepted for a vanquis card, albeit only £500 limit. This was utilised for a bit of fuel each month and the balance was cleared each month.

We saved like crazy for five months and had a lovely holiday this summer, I even applied for and got a Post Office CC at the last minute, lower interest and higher credit limit than vanquis!

Finally the car was falling apart, it had 158,000 on the clock so we very recently acquired a 16 plate car on a 4 year pcp.

Having said all that old habits due hard and I still go looking for food on the clearance shelves at the supermarket, only buy clothes in sales (have to be at least 50% off)

All said the IVA was a very hard lesson but not one that will be forgotten, cards are for emergencies and everything is budgeted for out of monthly income. This forum was a lifeline during my IVA and I won't forget all the advice I was given during the dark days.

Really is an excellent post and I hope you enjoyed the well earned holiday. It does show light at the end of the tunnel.

Great post -- well done. Yes an IVA lives on in all of us and teaches us "old fashioned" values, I think.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Looking at that CC is a great feeling isn't it sprowstonboy,

Your post is a great boost for anyone finding it hard going in their IVA and shows that you do eventually get there.

Enjoy the new car.

Which CRA recorded your completed IVA and why ?

If memory serves me correctly it was clearscore, they picked it up the month after I completed. No idea why though. It had gone by the following month following a complaint.

As Clearscore is Equifax`s free site, I`m guessing your completed IVA was reported on your Equifax report too sprowstonboy?

I`ll keep an eye out on my reports for the same happening, as I recall seeing other forum posts in the past about this.

I really don`t want to get credit cards again tbh, but it appears that it`s looked upon as a negative if you don`t have one on your credit reports.

Like you I really need to change my old car, so this is the only financing I wanted to contemplate but I am going to wait until the Spring which will be 8 months after I completed by which time I should be long gone from the IR and hopefully sorted any possible issues with CRAs.

Good luck for the future sprowstonboy
