Hi.I'm about the pay my 4th IVA payment. So far so good really. Can't quite believe the post has stopped in it's abundance!Able to budget and we certainly haven't gone without. We even had a weekend away and still have a small contingency pot of money saved. However, I'm totally all consumingingly (is this a word?)pre occupied with the IVA and budgets and money.Checking accounts etc.Money is always a fraction away from my thoughts all the time.It was like this before, alongside a feeling of dread. I want some semblance of normality to resume now.I think I may have some post traumatic stress from the whole process.Does anyone else feel the same or can you 'get on with it'.I'm not moaning..honest I'm not.I'm very grateful to be provided with this second chance.Just wondered what others have felt in thier first 6 months and thereafter? Cat

Hi Cat
I felt the same and still am preoccupied withit to a certain degree. Now 14 months in I feel I have settled down a little and tend now to know what I can and cant afford. I dont like my bank account to do below a certain amount and if it does I pull the horns in again. I think it is a good thing it shows you are committed to getting through and at least we have learned or are learning how to budget. Just imagine at the end it will all be ours and we will probably still budget the same, but will be able to save and have a few of the things we have gone without.

We are struggling a bit this month I normally work 2 or 3 bank shifts but there were none available so we have had to survive on a 'bare' wage. Living from the freezer until Friday [;)] Up till now doing OK we put away our car tax, maintainance, clothing monies etc into 2 cash accounts and keep a ledger book at home to keep track of the monies. I guess I could use an excel program but I love to open the book and look at the totals (it's mostly all spoken for but still nice to look at [:)] )

Me with savings!! Who would ever have thought it!!??
My thanks to Melanie and her team :)

I am obsessed with money and this forum, my husband even commented on it the other evening. I'm sure it will calm down for me soon but everything that can break seems to be breaking just as I've entered my IVA. Giving me a bit of a challenge at the moment, but I feel confident that somehow I will survive. Good luck to each and everyone on their journey x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi Cat,

Where are your cash accounts ? Like you I am trying to budget and put my contingency to one side for unknown bills etc I keep my allocated money in a red tin hidden at home but I am terrified someone might break in and steal it, can you open a saving account whilst in an IVA - im just into my third year.
Cheers

Hi humblewoman, you can open a basic account for saving your contingency. There are a few banks who will accept you. Halifax, Nat west, co-op
