I'm looking to get a pre-paid card and came across the utility warehouse cashback one, where you can earn 5% cashback in numerous stores including Sainsburys.

Just looked at their website and its £9.99 one-off fee, with no charge for the first 6 months, then a £1 fee per month thereafter. They charge 35p everytime you top up.

Has anyone got/heard of this card?

I use Utility Warehouse for my gas, electric, home phone and broadband. They are a network marketing company which, had I known, would have put me off joining (had a bad experience with a totally different network marketing outfit in the distant past). Having said that, I am happy with their service. I save a lot on what I was paying before (but most comparison sites suggest there are cheaper options) and getting a single bill is a great advantage. I haven't bothered with the cashback card as we don't have a local Sainsbury's and don't spend much at the other stores involved. However, many of their customers claim to save around £50/£60 per month at Sainsbury's. A word of warning, however. A poster who raves about Utility Warehouse is most likely also an agent getting commissions on signed up recommendations!!

I use the Paypal one. £4.95 upfront charge, no monthly fees and £1 to top up at a Post Office, but free if you do it from a Paypal account.

Swans, I have the Utility Warehouse card. Mrs. wen works in Sainsbury's so we get all our petrol and food there, and earn about £30 for doing the same shopping we would have anyway a month in cashback which goes as a credit against our gas bill.

Good for budgeting, and there are loads of other retailers you can earn cashback on too.

Be careful though, you only get the cashback on Sainsbury's petrol if you have spent at least £50 in one transaction in-store or online at Sainsbury's in the previous 14 days.

Thanks for the advice - as hubby works for sains we do all our shopping there and he gets fuel for his car so seems like a good idea.

Wen, I presume you have to be a Utility Warehouse customer to get this card as the cashback is paid by means of a deduction from your utility bill?

Put Paypal prepaid card into Google and apply online.

I've only used it for internet purchases, but I've found it ok.

I've never used mine in a shop so don't know how you get on there. No problem on the internet though.
