Aguise - sorry to go back to Playdough....when the set for the grandkids goes off a bit You can make your own... very cheap - just google for a receipe... my mum used to make it with me when i was little... you know there is no chemicals in it! and the children get to help make it --- plus you do any colour you want as long as you have the food clouring! Happy days.

Thanks Lula may try it, it is all turning horrible colours as they keep mixing them. Throwing a bit away at a time. Sounds messy Yak but I bet they will like making it.

Ta x

I've just worked out that I have close to 10 years of paying back my debt[:(], so I think I'm going to work out a list of people and birthdays and christmas and buy something every month all year round. That way I'll have a present stash.

This year I'm not buying for anyone other than my husband, and I've worked out a very strict budget over 3 paydays so everything will be bought and paid for before Christmas. [:D]

me and hubby have been gutting our house of rubbish and decided to do a car boot to raise money, the first one wasn't too good we only raised about £26, we done another sunday and raised over £100 for 4 hours work, we are doing another this sunday and for the next few stock permitting to raise funds for xmas it has given us such a good feeling knowing we are able to go and get presents for the kids, i also put a bike away in june for my eldest and have been paying it off weekly, we just wonder why we hadn't done these things years ago, i would recommend a car boot to anyone trying to raise cash or even buying some of the stuff that is sold is brilliant and in mint condition.

Well done for doing so well at the car boot Kerri - Dave and I did one on Saturday and made £5.65!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

It is amazing when you put your minds to it what you can do to save money and raise additional funds! When we were moving we had numerous car boot sales and knowing that we would have to pay 6 months rent up front and outlay money for other moving expenditure we managed to raise nearly £600! We felt so proud that we could then say we had done it!
For nearly five months now, I have not used Credit - our IVA was approved in September and since then we have budgeted and lived on £140 a week to feed, petrol and socialise for two people - I have also managed to buy new glasses!
It feels good using proper money and not credit - why oh why didn't I do this earlier!!

It is amazing how resourceful you become when you have budgets to live by and how you start to look outside the box for when you need something wheras in the old days one would just whip out the ol' plastic and slap whatever one wanted on that but now we make a list of who we are buying for and the budget for that person and then try and source what we want to get for that person within the budget. I think there is so much more pleasure (& satisfaction)in giving someone a gift knowing that it was paid for by hard earnt cash and a lot more thought (& effort) went into it.

I must admit I don't even like using my pre-paid card now - I prefer cash! I had to use it yesterday as we had no heating at work and I needed a couple of jumpers, but I would rather have paid cash for them but didn't have any on me.

They are often referred to as pre-paid credit cards, but you load your money onto them and therefore can only spend what you have. There are a lot of them out there and I think that the Cashplus card usually comes out as the best. If you have a look at http://www.which-prepaid-card.co.uk/ you can find out more about them.

um...now I guess I'm going to be incredibly think, but..why would people do this when they have a debit card? I looked at the link and they all seem to have monthly fees attached where the cash card doesn't. Am I missing something very obvious? Sorry for being a pain

I have only a Visa Electron card - this is very useful but a number of places will not accept it. With a prepaid card - Mastercard for example - these are universally accepted but you can only spend what money you have "loaded" on to the card. Yes - they do charge a fee but there are a lot of them available now (Virgin / Cashplus and many more) and some offer the option of different tariffs depending on how much you will use the card. The prepaid card lets you shop at places where restricted cards are not accepted.

Hi Just wondering if anybody knows where I can buy some Heely's from at a cheap price?

They are those trainer kind of skates with the wheel in the heel

My daughter would like some for christmas but the cheapest I can find is £50 in the shops and £38 on Ebay

Would be grateful for any ideas

PS I don't think she would mind if they were an un-named variety

Thanks very much

Hi Spenmotherhen

There's loads on eBay for less than that. There's also a few links to other sites selling them for less. Alternatively have a look on google, your sure to find something!
