I have been living in France since |Sept 2006. I have credit
card and loan debts which I am finding hard to pay because I
no longer work. My husband is freelance and is not paid reguarly enough so that sometimes Payments are late etc. though he is committed to helping me out. Would I be eligible for an IVA or some kind of help with getting clear of my debts?

I am prepared to pay because I have incurred all these debts, but just at the moment we are finding it very hard to put up with all the pressure of mounting interest, threats and the like. I have written and phoned all my creditors but they still send out the threatenng letters and seem to ignore payment agreements made by me.

Hi vickie and welcome to the forum

The problem you have in proposing an IVA is that you have not been resident in the UK for the greater part of the last six months. So unless you have a UK permanent address also, you will be unable to apply.

Can you let me know how much you owe in total, as there will be other solutions available to you. Also, do you have any assets which would be at risk under bankruptcy proceedings - property, car, investments, shares etc?
