Hello

We received our completion cert from grant Thornton in nov 13. We are selling our house and the solicitor tells us that the restriction is still there :-( I am going to call grant Thornton first thing, but can anyone please advise me as to how long it will take to be lifted? Or if there is anything I can do?

Thanks

Hi, not sure on this. The only thing I can think of is that are you off the insolvency register??? And yes a good thing to contact GT. ASAP x
5 years done and dusted. Certificate received.

Hopefully a quick phone call will result in a quick removal of this to enable you to move on. Maybe just an admin error?
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

This should have been removed and is easily done. GT can liaise with your solicitor and sort this out.

Just spoken to gt. They weren't particularly apologetic, but they have said they will write to the land registry today.

They didn't say they would liase with my solicitor.... Should I ask them to?

They also said they didn't know how long the removal would take which made me cross! We are in a chain so don't want to hold anyone up! Does anyone have an idea??

Thanks

Should this come off when completion certificate received or after 6 years. We weren't told this would be happening when we took out IVA

GT can notify your solicitor that the restriction will be removed and it is only there in error. If they provide an undertaking to remove the restriction your solicitor may be able to complete.

Thank you. I will try to get them to do this, although they were v unhelpful over the phone.

I was hoping there was a gt expert on here willing to help?!

There used to be but I have not seen her on the forum for some time. I believe she was moved to a different department.

surely this should be part of the process... send completion cert => contact all parties to get removed from register/remove restrictions.

Basics.... these companies are dealing with peoples lives

I know. I said that exactly to grant Thornton. They didn't even utter a 'sorry' til I asked them to! I feel so embarrassed because we know the solicitor... He is a family friend. We managed to tell no one about the iva either :-(
