I dont receive any bills, I just pay via paypoint and get a receipt each time. But no bills or statements are sent, not sure what to send?
Thank you for your replies melanie, I have recently started to think about my choice of debt support due to finding this forum. Before I found this site I was on another that really supports CCCS and Payplan. But now being on here for a couple of weeks, I think I would have rather had the support and personal approach that other companies provide.
It is not too late to change your mind - remember you have to spend the next five years with the firm you choose, so it might be an idea to take a second opinion whilst you can.
If you just pay by paypoint, how do you know if you are paying the correct amount - surely someone reads the meters each year? I am sure that the paypoint receipts will be sufficient if it is absolutely necessary to prove relatively modest expenditure.
I am going to talk to my husband and see what he thinks about seeking other advice, but knowing what he is like it will be what I think is best...I make all the major decisions in our household.
My meter does not get read, I just put 30pound per fortnight on each key and keep an eye on how much I have left each time. I have never known my meter to be read in the 5yrs I have lived here. I will have to start keeping paypoint receipts but it will take a while to collect as it is fortnightly charged. I will ring the gas and electric and see if there is anything they could send me for proof, but suppose I have never needed to ask so it never occured to me.
Hi redrose[:)]
It might be worth asking your landlord, maybe he gets the bills?? I used to be on pre-payment meters years ago, and always got an annual statement. Either way your suppliers should send you statements, really can't understand why they don't.
Good Luck [:)]
Never take a moment or a loved one for granted in the blink of an eye they may be lost forever.
I know my landlord doesnt get statements, its a housing assocation and the utilities bills are our responsibility to sort out and mantain. But I will definately ring and ask if they can give me sort of statement.
A landlord can not enforce that you use a prepayment meter. You are free to contact your supplier and request a quarterly meter and set up a monthly direct debit based on your past usage.

I was under the impression that the housing assocation doesn't like you to have quarterly bills, as with the key meter system you can not leave the property with any debt.
Also although it is more expensive, I do prefer the key meters as I know there will not be a big bill suddenly, some of my friends got one this winter!
Again this is something I have never asked as I have been using the key this way for 5yrs. I suppose if you dont ask, you'll never know.
The housing association can not dictate how you pay your bill. The utility bill is a contract between yourself and the supplier. However if you prefer to use a prepayment meter this is fine. Debts can still be left on prepayment meters and I have personnally known of pre-payment meters being in debt for over £150. Personnally I would prefer quarterly meters as pre-payment meters are a total pain when new tenants move into a property, especially if there is no credit on the meter. Going back to the problem of providing proof of gas and electric usage it may be worth contacting your suppliers to see if they can provide you with a statement to show how much you have been paying at the paypoint.

Thanks paul, will definately be on the phone tomorrow, just a shame Payplan arent open tomorrow as I have a few things to ask. I did ring them today and was told I would get a call back but no-one called, so all questions will have to wait till monday. Thanks everyone who has replied, your advice and help is greatly appreciated. Redrose
You are more than welcome. If you feel that the service you are getting from payplan is not what you would like then now is the time to look elsewhere as after the IVA is approved you can not change. All the best and hopefully you will get the right solution soon.

Again thanks for advice, I am going to have a serious think about staying with Payplan. I know they are recommended by banks and are a very good company, but I agree with feeling happy with who-ever I go with.
That's exactly right redrose. I have no problems with Payplan, but as you have to spend the next five years with them, you need to make sure you are totally happy.
Ring one or two more - it's not going to cost anything and may mean that you find a better solution.
