Hey jpj, I've just noticed you are around and just wanted to pick your brains as if I remember rightly you sold your business. How long did it take from accepting an offer to handing over? I expect an offer on the restaurant this week and spoke to my solicitor a few months back and I'm sure she said about eight weeks, but just wondered if you know whether it can be quicker.......if everyone is on the ball! Thanks, Viki X

Oh Barb, what a lovely thing to say. YOU'RE the inspiration, I moan ALL the time and I'm forever asking questions! You post such lovely messages, I think they lifts people's spirits. I know you cheer me up all the time. Thank you so much.

I AM getting nervous now, I think partly because it could all happen quickly and then I'm going to be out of a job! Plus, I'm not sure how upset I'm going to be so not looking forward to that either.

However, I will be paying my debts, so that's got to count for something.

especially as it has been a part of your life for so long and you have special memories there!

like you say though, you will have sorted your debts and move on to a new chapter in your life, whether it be with your dream job in helping people with debt problems or even the patter of tiny feet and vicki becoming a mummy! you would make a fab mum! that would be lovely!

Bless you both. I luv my best pal, but can't tell her about my debt problems and feel that my hubby and me have this massive secret that we are keeping from her. I have 'known' you both for two weeks and you know more about me than my 15 yr friendship with her which I value immensly, that's whats so great about this forum. I hope I get to meet you both at a future Frugal Friends meeting and thank you so much for all your support. Kazzy x

i know what you mean kazzy!

no one except my hubby and my friends in this forum know about our problems!

i think that is one of the reasons this forum is so special to me. i can be open and honest without fear of being judged!

i too hope to meet you at some point at a frugal friends meeting!
without yours and others support on here i would not be where i am today, so thankyou!

Hi Viki

sorry I havent been about much...been working crazy hours for the last few weeks!

It did take about 8 weeks for my business sale to go through too!

It is a bit like buying a house unfortunately as it is done through solicitors!

They have to check everything out like the lease, inventory etc etc. sadly its not like selling a car where you just hand over the keys..

Hang on in there, but do chase your solicitor, often if both parties(buyer and seller) keep the pressure up it does help!

Good luck![:D]

Thanks for the reply jpj, eight weeks isn't too bad then. Thanks for the good luck aswell, I'm sure I'm going to need it.

Don't work too hard!

I really understand how you are all feeling.
This whole thing is like carrying a huge secret that no one else knows.
My husband and I haven't told anyone and that can be quite stressful as we find ourselves avoiding being with others and then because we only have each other to talk to about it all it can sometimes become heated and I just wish I had someone else to talk to.
That is a time when I need the forum so that I can just rant to you all.
Everyone who has ever replied has always been very supportive and non judgemental and I can honestly say that without this forum I do not know how I would have coped. I don't always post as I am studying at the moment but I do read a lot and quite often reading the posts of others can answer questions I have.
Viki - I do hope you get things sorted this week and you can begin to look to the future. You are one person who has supported me through the early days of our IVA and I hope things begin to go right for you. [:)]

sblack, I know how you feel. The only people we have told about our IVA are my stepchildren who are in pretty much the same situation (both in DMP - doesn't say much for how they were taught about money does it?)

I love this forum as it answers a lot of my questions, people are frendly and there is a lot of good debate, you can get a lot off your chest.

Trouble is, there are times when I want to talk about things I have found out, particularly when I am at work and I have to stop myself. I do find it stressful that I feel that I cannot talk to anyone else about it.

Viki - fingers crossed for tomorrow!
