Not sure if they would let you have as much as £100 for contingency, don't forget things like the dentist, prescriptions, lunches for work.

You certainly have enough disposable income for either an IVA or a DMP.

On those figures, I would definitely recommend phoning a professional and taking advice from them. They should be able to sort you out.

A BIG thankyou to both of you, it means and helps alot to talk about this.
My partner is on incapacity benifit due to depression, and I would really be afraid to tell him about my debts!
Do I have to?
Thanks.

I think that a DMP would be more suitable for you than an IVA - as you could probably afford to pay your creditors in full on the assumption that you pay no fees and the creditors agree not to charge any ongoing interest or charges.

You don't have to tell him if you don't want to, IVA's and DMP's are dealt with over the phone or by post.

I would recommend that you do tell him though, I didn't tell my hubby for ages and it caused all sorts of problems when he found out. If you get a lot of creditor letters at home and phone calls, he may wonder what is going on.

I really dont think I could tell him, like I say he suffers from depression, and I wouldnt want to make him feel worse! thats why I would dread going the dmp route if my creditors were always phoning!
would I have to tell my creditors my partners income! he doesnt get much and has to pay £100 per month to his own creditors.
Thankyou all.

I think they would just want to see that he contributed to the household, that is all.

The dmp route does scare me I couldnt risk my job if a creditor took me to court! has I work in the public sector it could be very embarassing!
Is it ok to continue with this post tommorrow?

I doubt it would come to that. I work in the public sector too, and no one knows about my IVA, and none of them knew about my DMP as well.

You post whenever you want Sue. There's usually someone about.
