Hiya, Ive just joined and really could do with some advice please.
I have a mobile contract with Vodafone, i am planning on including it into my IVA that i am starting in the very near future.
I want to keep my mobile number but vodafone have said that i would have to buy out the contract before issuing a PAC code, Is there any way round this?
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
thanks in advance

If the contract is not in arrears you would probably be allowed to include the monthly amount in your expenditure and therefore keep the contract running.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Hiya thanks for replying, In all honesty i dont think i want to keep it, we have 2 with vodafone on my account and costing us just shy of £80 Pm and barely use them, Usually use the land line so will definitely save money by letting them go and changing to pay as you go. Just the number i really dont want to use as have used it for quite a while and everyone has it. We used to use the mobiles a lot before we changed land line tariff and got 1000 minutes to mobiles etc, so use that now.

If your contract is not at the end you will have to pay to terminate it , then you will be able to go onto pay as you go and then your number will be transferred

The only way you'll be able to keep your number is to either keep up with your repayments or buy your way out of the contract. There's no way the Vodafone are going to issue you with a PAC code if you're not paying your bill.

Also, one thing you'll need to do it to arrange a new contract with a different provider BEFORE the IVA appears on your credit and before your arrangement is approved as the likelihood of you arranging one post IVA is quite slim due to the credit checks etc. However, if you do move to PAYG a credit check is not necessary.

Before you change to PAYG make sure it is the right decision for you as once you are in an IVA it will be very difficult to get another contract. I have seen posters who have changed to PAYG and regretted it.

How long do you have to run on the two phones? if your stuck with the contract you could see it out? £80 pcm is steep. If you run it out you will be able to switch to PAYG or contract sim with Vodafone and keep the number. I personally avoided contracts when it went from 12 months to 24 months.
IVA complete March 2014 after 6 years.

Hiya thanks for the advice everyone, Been a manic weekend sorry for the delay.
Thanks Sally1966 and Claresilver it looks like its keep it up or lose the number situation, I doubt i would be credit worthy for another contract through in all honesty.
I know what you mean Skippy if it was just the one i think i would keep it but 2 is a little too much for us at this time.
Hi Radish, i initially took out the contract in Jan but added the extra line last month for the Mrs (Stupidity springs to mind but cant turn back the clock now) Yes these are 24 months contracts so its pretty hefty to say the least.
Does anyone know if its a good idea to speak to Vodafone about it or will it go pear shaped the minute i mention the IVA?
Thanks again everyone

Why not keep the contract going until it is up and then increase your IVA payments at this time. Your IP can list the expense with an explanation and this prevents Vodaphone from being entered as a creditor. You are no worse off and creditors will benefit from the future savings and lower debts.
