I'm not supporting any sort of witch hunt here, sorry.

Just to reiterate

The discussion did clarify my postion,my options and make me feel much better at a time when few other were and it did start what I consider to be a very sucessful ball rolling.

During my credit card days I've spent more than that on a date and had less return

Things happen , life changes, we move on.

Hi acsn

I can understand how you feel. At a time when I felt everything was falling apart I contacted a company, who get very bad press on the Forum here, and they gave me financial advice and emotional and psychological support that was second to none at a time when I felt my world was closing in around me. They charged me a fee for this service but it was the best money I have perhaps ever spent ... I can't see the difference between paying a fee such as this and paying a fee to a solicitor to give you professional advice and guidance on legal issues ... great professionals who do a good job and are experts in their field are worth their weight in gold.[:)]

Hi Acsn,

I am glad that you have clarified the position. They have not charged you £800 for a telephone call, its the setting up costs etc..

I have no issue with that whatsoever. I am glad you have found a suitable solution to your debts.

I'm with CCCSVA and I didn't have to pay anything in advance. And there was no pressure to make token payments either. They also arranged the first payment to be taken 6 weeks after the IVA was agreed so that it coincided with my salary.

And re Ian's earlier question about discussing all the options : yes, they did but suggested an IVA was the best option and, IMHO, that was clearly the right advice given my circumstances.

I think that the £800.00 has not been paid upfront rather that simply a description of what the IVA will costs etc.
