I got the call yesterday to say my IVA was approved with minor modifications - the relief honestly felt amazing! I feel ready for the next couple of years.

What did everyone do to celebrate? I was at a friend's house having tea! :D

I am not sure that I did 'celebrate' .... I can remember going through all sorts of emotions over a period of a couple of weeks. But the over-riding emotion was a sense of relief, tinged with a bit of excitement at the prospect of getting to grips with the new lifestyle ... a simpler lifestyle, as it turned out.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I didn’t celebrate as such but I remember feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I was finally on the correct path and could see the light at the end of the tunnel

Its a great feeling having that one monthly payment and no daily phone calls from cc companies, plus an end in sight for the debts. win win.

I think I went into "budget" mode and got envelopes out and set up one for all my different lines of expenditure not reliant on DDs.

Whatever money was left at the end of each month then went into a pot for xmas !

This week will be my second payment to my iva I didn’t really celebrate I had so many emotions and still am now it’s adjusting to the new life without credit learning to budget more carefully. Learning there’s more to life than credit and feeling proud that I pay for my shopping with my own money and not with the credit card anymore. When I’m paid I leave direct debits in my account and everything else I withdraw and put in envelopes for the month so I manage more correctly with bills and money. If I have a spare £5 which can be very rare goes toward Christmas for my daughter.
