Fingers crossed Sharon, we're thinking of you. Let us know the result.

That is hideous to have to be re-interviewed for a job within your own company. Let's face it if employers do not want to employ someone they can usually find a loophole out of it, or just make someones life so difficult that they decide they want to leave in any case.

Know exactly how you feel Sharon. At our work, they are restructuring and they have just told us there are 4 jobs we will be ring-fenced to but there are 10 of us in the team at the minute so we will all have to go through a full competitive interview and our performance so far will not be taken into account. Although we have worked with the interviewers for a number of years on a daily basis, on the day they will expect us to interview as if they do not know us and tell us everything we can do - they will not take any of our track record into account unless we mention it in our interview!!!! Really not looking forward to that interview one bit!!

That's not good at all! I hope it works out for you.

Interviews are always hard and in these cases even harder. I've had the unfortunate task of interviewing in such situations and it's not a pleasurable experience.

I can only advise to treat any interview as if the interviewer has never met you. Make sure you're up to speed on the company as a whole( too often internal interviewees only know about their role and department) big yourself up and sell yourself.

Good luck xx

Great advice from Julie. Don't assume they know about your achievements...shout about them! Is your company offering practice interviews? My last employer did this and gave feedback in advance of the real thing. Good luck x

Thanks Guys, I am not going to pin my hopes on anything. It's such a mess and the senior people are treating us appallingly. They have given us the wrong job descriptions, our correspondence is not even on letterheads, we have been slotted into wrong jobs and then told oops sorry you're not slotted in anymore. It is a mess... Stess levels are beyond acceptable and at the moment I just wish I could stop the bus and get off.

Thanks for listening to the whinging though - it helps a lot.

Words like 'p up', 'brewery' and 'organise' spring to mind!

What an awfully stressful time for you and I hope it gets sorted sooner rather than later.

Oh well - just got my "Dear John" letter saying I didn't get the job! Well, their loss I guess but it is so depressing and my confidence has left the building! Dole queue here I come! So, I will be back asking questions on what to do about redundancy as soon as I can scrape myself off the floor.....

I'm sorry. Give yourself a little time to let it sink in and then speak to your IP about your options. Will your employer be doing CV clinics or suchlike to help you all find employment?

Thanks - please they can't even get things like your name right let alone do anything for you to find you other employment. They are supposed to be running workshops but those who have attended left halfway through as they were a total waste of time.

I am going home and putting my feet up and relaxing.... tomorrow is another day and the sun will shine again (I hope). Something will come up that's bigger and better - I have to believe that!

Sorry to hear about the job SharonOR. When you're ready, contact your local career advisor, the service is free and in my experience they are a great help.

So sorry to hear your news Sharon. No-one deserves to be treated as a number rather than a human being. Look on the positive side - and treat this as an opportunity to go to bigger and better things. Only 7% of people who have lost their jobs in the last 12 months have been out of work for more than six months - so the future may not be as bad as it seems.
