Rejection

Good Morning everyone
First of all can i thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all of their concerns about me in the last 10 days.
As you know i tried for an IVA and was rejected by a creditor at my meeting on 29 May.
My IP melanie and Sarah fought tooth and nail with the creditor concerned to get this accepted for me and yesterday some very unrealistic modifications were put forward to accept this on their behalf.
I will not be going through with the IVA and will be petitioning for Bankruptcy once i have confirmed everything with work.
This is not a decision i have come to lightly. I have had many conversations with Skip who has given me a run down!
I tried my best, and although i made mistakes in my life, i tried so hard to rectify this but they pushed too far.

Sorry to hear about the rejection.

With the modifications can't you come to an agreement say meet them half way...IE offer an extra £20 a month or maybe go for 6 years and not five.

But please don't give up without a fight, show them that your willing to compromise and they must do the same

zoe, you have tried your best just as I and many others have here to manage our debts through an IVA being established. I too had an unrealistic IVA that would have failed if agreed to. It is a very hard decision to realise a bankruptcy is the only solution. You at first feel scared because of all the rumours you may have heard about bankruptcies. You may feel ashamed because you're not paying back the most that you can to your creditors through a bankruptcy as you would have with an IVA. You will find yourself feeling a gamut of emotions while filling in the petition. Rest assured zoe, in the end the sensation of relief will wash over you. A sense of well-being will surround you because you will know deep in your heart you tried to pay your creditors and the offer was rejected. It is not your fault. As you have stated you and Mel fought tooth and nail. That took a lot of inner strength and perserverence. I bow to your tenacity.

You have waged your battle fiercly. Have you lost? No, but the creditors have. If anything you have gained because you have learned something about yourself. I believe all difficult moments in life teach us something that only only we can define. So, you zoe will come to define this negative event and what you have learned from it in time and find what you have gained from experiencing it. This knowledge will turn the negative event around into something positive in the journey of your life;and you will look back on it and pat yourself on the back.

Sorry to hear this Zoe - you've done all you can to offer repaying as much as you can. If the creditors dont want that, it is them that will lose out. BR isnt easy, but it will give you a fresh start - and it will be the end of your concerns with your creditors. I'm sure in a few months time, you'll be looking forward to automatic discharge and planning a new and exciting stage of your life.

I have come to realise that my future is not as dark as i thought.

I am sorry that you didnt get the result you wanted with your IVA. However, this long period of hope, dread and uncertainty is over for you now, you can move forward knowing that you tried your best. The only way is up now for you and well done for hanging in there. Good luck with the BR and the new life waiting for you on the other side. There will be bad days and good days, tomorrow will be so much better than yesterday.

Hello Zoe

I was terribly sorry to hear of the IVA rejection. You should hold your head up high though Zoe as I know for a fact that you did everything in your power to pay your creditors back to the best of your ability. Take stock of all the positive experiences that many people who found themselves in a similar boat to yourself have posted of on this forum and focus on moving forward into a debt free existence where you can start afresh.

Like everybody else I'm really sorry to hear that the IVA hasn't worked out for you.

Could you now possibly post some more info regarding why the creditors turned it down and what modifications they wanted which resulted in you deciding Br was the best route.

Zoe - sorry things didn't work out the way you wanted.

I'm at the very start of the IVA process and worry it may go the same way for me. What were the modifications they asked for, I understand if you don't want to give too much detail but anything is helpful?
