I am 4 years into an IVA but 3 years ago I rented a property through an estate agent and didn't tick the CCJ/Bankruptcy box on the tenancy application form as my IVA wasn't listed with Experian & Equifax but was with CallCredit. I was accepted so I assume the agent checked one of those two.
I want to move again and went for a property and again didn't tick the CCJ/Bankrupcy box but they used Homelet (who use CallCredit) so it failed.
I've found another property with the same estate agent I'm with now so I'm hoping that they still use the same credit reference agency as before so I will pass again.
Has anyone else had any experience of IVA's not being listed on all 3 agencies and trying to 'manage' the one that is checked?
James - may be better to change you profile name - as you will get a load of spam
Welcome the the forum
Sometimes for some unknown reason the IVA wont show - or its hidden in the court information section - unless you are able to ask the rental agency which CRA agency - you may find it better to mention it fully up front - as saves time and money
I've recently gone into renting and was completely honest with the agent from the start. I had to use my mom as a guarantor and they were happy with that (eventually). The landlady had to be told too just to make sure she was happy with it and luckily she wanted to give us a break and let us!
I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have on the renting process as it was the bane of my life for a good few weeks!! [:I]

Hi ginger3232
Well if it can go through without disclosing it then it would be much much simpler, just need a way to ask the letting agency who they use for all references (homelet/rentwise etc.) and then find out from them what credit agency they use. When it failed before I just lost what I had paid for the credit references and they refunded my admin fees of £200 as they hadn't actually done anything! but maybe that wouldn't happen with everyone.

Hi vimto1029
Trouble is I don't have anyone to be able to guarantee the rent, my parents are retired and my friends are broke!
My parents are both retired too but because they could prove their income through a pension and had some savings it went through ok..might be an option for you maybe?
A lot of other agents said they would accept me if I could offer 6 months rent upfront aswell
Hope you get things sorted..keep us posted
Oh and have you tried Gumtree and places like that? We found a few on there..just none we liked lol

I would think that all credit referencing agencies will be used, so the best thing to do would be to answer the questions truthfully and hope that your prospective landlords see the benefit of a tenant who has their debts under control.
I second what Melanie said!
We were completely honest from the start and whilst the landlady took her time in making the decision in the end she decided she wanted to give us a break and could see that we weren't actually bad people..just made a few mistakes in the past

Hi Vimto, James, sorry for jumping in. My wife and I are in an IVA, and after 10 years of marriage are splitting. We are awaiting a decision as to whether payments to date can be used as F&F settlement.
Everything rides on this decision as we couldnt afford to pay the IVA on our own wages, plus renting ets, our house has no equity in it.
We have never rented before so its all scary, if the estate agent requires a gurantor, did you have to put down a big deposit to?
I am sure that your proposed variation will be successful, given the circumstances you describe. Has your IP given you any idea of timescale for presenting this to creditors?

Hi Melanie, no Declan is on the case, our paperwork was sent in around a week and a bit ago, so just nervously awaiting their decision
