Just need a bit of advice if anyone can please.

I have been in an IVA now for 4 years, just over a year to go, I started a new relationship in Sept 2009 and we are now looking to rent from an estate agent somewhere.
Currently my girlfriend has been renting from Green & Co without any problem for the last 18 months.
My questions are

..Can my girfriend just put her name down for renting and I pay half of the money to her?

..Will my girlfriend be credit checked again if we stay with the same estate agent?

..Will a letter from my IVA arranger help at all if I put my name on the rent.

We have looked at the private rentals and the choices are just not enough for what we are looking for.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It may be worth speaking to Green & Co and seeing what they say. There would be no reason for them to credit check your girlfriend again and even if they did you should not be linked to her.

There is nothing to stop the rental agreement being in her sole name if this is easier but a word with the agent would be best.

Some agents are forgiving of IVAs
If you explain before hand that your credit check would fail because you are insolvent but are responsibly doing something about it.
Usually a reference or rent book (if you have one to prove you have no arrears or never have been helps.
Being in rented accommodation n always using private landlords - I know the choice is difficult. If we need to move again - the property we require now with children we would need to go through an agent too.

Hope this helps.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

If you are going to just use your girlfriend's name on the tenancy, make sure that there is nothing which would throw that into default if you were to move in. Most landlords like to know exactly who is living in their properties.
