Hi There!
I currently have an IVA and everything is working perfectly! I have a potential issue though where I am being required to travel for business reasons. Of course this is great but in terms of hiring a car, paying for hotels etc I am finding this either hugelt difficult or impossible without a Credit Card. Is there anything you could suggest to help? With the IVA I simply do not have the extra cash to pay for business travel yet my company does not have a Company Credit Card. I am very concerned by the situation...

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum. I'm glad your IVA is going well!

Would your company be able to give you a float before you travel? You could then pay the money onto a prepaid card - Cashplus Mastercard lets you hire a car with it.

That's great! Thanks for the advice I will ask my Finance Manager if this is a possibility! With regard to Car Hire, I was under the impression that this was not possible with the prepaid cards. Is the case for the one you mention different?
Thanks for your valued advice
Steve

Hi Steve - I know how you feel, I quite often have to pay upfront and then reclaim via expenses. A floats not an option with us, but with hotels I get them to send through a proforma invoice for the cost of the room, then its only extra's I have to pay for.

Hotels I use regular have set us up a business account - you should be able to do this for your hire car too. Has your company thought of leasing a pool car, could work our cheaper if its used regularly??

I think the Cashplus card is the only card that allows you to hire a car. If Google Cashplus the full details are on the website.

Hi Steve, I travel extensively with work, both in the UK and overseas. I use a combination of the cashplus card, float and a Thomas Cook, foreign exchange card (saves me carrying lots of currency on my possession).

I can confirm that you can hire a vehicle using the cashplus card, have used this many times without any problems, other than adding an extra 2.5% for use overseas. Just be aware with the cashplus card that they will 'pre-authorise' the amount in advance.

Regards.

Thanks so much - i'll charge any fees back to the company anyway :-)
