Mrs s sympathy from me. I have spoken to lily before about this I suffer with it constantly and have done for years. I have tried most things even the bar of soap under your sheets. (sounds mad that one but if you google rls and bar of soap it wil come up) didnt work for me though others say it does. I found the only thing to do is to move, I suffer more when tired, sitting down for a long time or in bed.
Having said this i have pushed my gp to allow me to try a drug which has been raved as a solution to RLS. It is Ropinrole (requip) and is one of the drugs used for parkinsons. I was ecstatic that he gave it me as I know he wasnt keen. For me it didnt work, the side effects far outweighed any relief and I had to stop. This is apparently the prob with it some cannot tolerate the side effects. Now the doc has given me quinine, used for cramps more, but he said may be worth a try, and I have to say it has improved considerably. If you dont want the tablets you can drink tonic water as it contains quinine.( I hate the stuff and couldnt drink it) Other things I have been told work is as said a warm bath or shower, standing on a cold floor. For me just walking around for a bit seems to get rid of it.Not nice if you are in bed and have to get back up again. Even the othe staff at work know when i have it the chair starts squeaking and I start to wriggle and they say your legs are starting arent they. Then I start wandering up and down the ward. My sympathy honey it is a rotten indescribable feeling,I hope one of all these remedies work.

My hubby has a similar sort of thing, but he is always asleep when it happens (not often, fortunately!). He slides his leg up the bed until it is bent, then just lets it flop back onto the bed. He does it loads of times as well. It's worse than snoring!

Drives me nuts!!!!!!

A diabetic foot is particularly vunerable because, a) there is loss of sensation, b) they are more prone to infection (without, clinical signs) plus diabetics do not heal as well. c) there is a compromised blood flow. As an NHS practioner I was never allowed to recommend homeopathic remedies, as they have not been through recognised clinical trials. Anyone with diabetes should avoid extremes, such as hot or cold, as these can cause damage to the tissues that cannot be felt. Diabetics can suffer from neuropathic pain (caused by nerve damage). Often in the form of burning sensation on the plantar surface. Often they will plunge feet into ice cold water for releif, its a big fat no no.

I was going to say, lesley, gee that could be a DVT. So glad you got that sorted out quickly.

I asked God for an answer, I have to live with his reply.

I should have said that it is always a good idea to see a trained homeopath or herbalist to ensure that a particular herb etc is suitable for you to use..there are some contra indications in uses for some people.

I will send some distance reiki too - (I am a reiki master teacher)
