Hi Tracey,
I set up a new account with the Abbey online before I started missing payments, and my IVA is still in the process of being approved. Basic account, electron debit card, and online banking, it has everything you need and was easy peasy to set up within about 5 days.

Hi Tracey,
I changed my bank account straight away before even starting the IVA process as my account was also one of my Creditors. I went with Abbey a basic account, and applied for a prepaid card online which was approved straight away, and just top this up when I need to.
It is very strange reverting back to using cash only, but it does make you think everytime you go shopping and does not cause the 'impulse buying' syndrome, debit and credit cards are so easy just to hand over! I have just had my IVA approved this morning, and it is such a huge relief...please do talk this over with your partner as you both need the support, and research the Forum for tips etc, everyone here is so helpful with great advice.
Also speak to at least 2/3 IP's before making any decisions...I like you never missed any payments to my Creditors but was also getting to the stage that I had no credit left to use. This did not affect my IVA outcome. Once I had spoken with an IP and had set the process in motion, I did not answer any calls from the Creditors until I had filled in my proposal and sent this off, I did then speak with the Creditors and nicely explained that I was in the early stages of the IVA and gave them my IP contact details. The calls stopped and I received a couple of default letters through the post which I forwarded to my IP.
My tip is Research! Find out everything you can either IVA or Bankruptcy pros and cons etc, change your bank account, cut up those awful credit cards, speak to a couple of Insolvency Practioners and take it from there.
Hope is of use to you
