I have the Insolvency register to thank for my mother finding out that I had an IVA. I'd told my father because I wanted his opinion on a couple of things before I entered into my IVA but my mother worries about everything so I decided not to tell her. Somehow (apparently through her work for a solicitor) she happened to fine me on the register which resulted in a slightly embarrassing phone call and subsequent months of fussing.

Forget the junk mail from dubious companies, the Register should be private to protect us from parental interference!
